Sodeshi Rice Terraces
These rice fields are terraced against the mountains and overlook the Sea of Japan. There are approximately 400 rice terraces that open across the landscape like a fan and is well deserving of being labeled one of the top "100 rice terraces in Japan." The harvested rice is hung on old-fashioned wooden rice-drying racks out in the sun. The rice fields are flooded in the spring, the golden stalks will be tall throughout the summer and then they will be harvested and dried in early fall.
