Ukawa Onsen, hot springs on the Sea
Ukawa Onsen (also called Yoshino no Sato) sits on a hill overlooking the Japanese Sea, with baths separated by sex that oppositely face the sea or bamboo forest. The sides change daily so both men and women have a chance to find their favorite side. The baths are open to the public but guests spending the night at the inn have special hours that extend past close and open early in the morning.
The onsen has accommodations perfect for couples, families, or even groups. With two restaurants on-site, and activities such as bicycle rentals, lavender picking, an activity room, and reading nook, you could easily spend an entire weekend here. Pristine beaches are only a 10 minute walk away or 2-5 minute drive.
There is also a gift shop that sells local products like sake, fresh-grown produce, drinks, snacks, and souvenirs.
