Mt. Kabutoyama looks down over Kumihama Bay. The bay is surrounded on mountains on three sides and is separated from the Sea of Japan by a thin isthmus of land. The observation deck was rebuilt in May of 2015 from cedar wood locally produced in Kyoto Prefecture. It was designed to be in harmony with the natural environment, while still offering panoramic views of the bay and surrounding nature park.
